The primary mission of the Bryant Street Department is to provide the City of Bryant with a maintained and safe transportation system. We seek to render cost effective and competent service to the citizens of Bryant, striving to be responsive to the citizen's requests and concerns and handle them in a timely manner.
Functions of the department include: minor street resurfacing, mowing public right-of-ways, overall street maintenance, repairing potholes, repairing street cuts, overlaying, building new roads, sign work, maintaining right-of-ways (cleaning ditches, mowing, weedeating, trimming back limbs, maintaining culverts), maintaining retention/detention ponds (city owned), traffic signal maintenance, striping, department vehicle maintenance, department equipment maintenance, and much more.

Street Closings 5/1/08
In 2007 the department replaced drainage culverts at both ends of N. Prickett Rd., widened, overlaid and striped. Shady Trail was also widened up to city limits, the “S” curve on Boone Road was taken out, overlaid, striped and reflectors put in curve. The old culverts on Ruth Drive were replaced with concrete culverts. The entire traffic control system at Prickett and Highway 183 (Reynolds Road) was replaced and revamped. A camera system was placed and timing reset in the box for better traffic flow at Springhill Road & Highway 5. Woodland Road Extension is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2008.
The Street Department was responsible for moving Mt. Carmel Road to make room for the new Target Store shopping complex and improvements were made to the existing roadway. The Department constructed a new Training and Warehouse facility and pole barns to store equipment and vehicles. Shoal Creek was cleaned out and box culverts installed at Boswell Road to improve flow of water. The Right-of-Way was cleared for Water Department on Hilltop Road.
